Among the optional holidays in 2026, a total of 5 days can be taken for Muslim holidays, a total of 9 days for Hindu holidays, a total of 8 days for Christian holidays, a total of 7 days for Buddhist holidays, and a total of 2 days for employees of minority ethnic groups.
According to the notification, there will be a total of 28 government holidays next year. Of these, 9 days fall on weekly holidays, Fridays and Saturdays. As a result, the actual holidays are 19 days. There will be five days for Muslim holidays, nine days for Hindu holidays, eight days for Christian holidays, seven days for Buddhist holidays, and two days for employees of minority ethnic groups.
The government has decided that this holiday will be observed in all government and semi-government offices and statutory, autonomous and semi-autonomous organizations in Bangladesh in 2026.
